FORMER Bros singer Matt Goss is coming to Kirklees to promote his new single.

Matt most recently appeared in ITV's reality show Hell's Kitchen. But many still remember him as a singer in 1980s boy band Bros.

Matt's new single Fly will be released on July 19 and he will be promoting it on July 22 at the opening of the new HMV store at Birstall Retail Park, near Batley. He will perform an acoustic set and sign CDs.

The single is from Matt's album Early Side Of Later, which was released last month.

Matt used to be in Bros with twin brother Luke and friend Craig Logan. The band shot to fame in 1987 with the hit When Will I Be Famous?

Craig left Bros under a cloud. Matt and Luke carried on until 1992, when Matt moved to America.

He released a solo album in 1995 called The Key - later revamped as a dance track - and in 1997, he moved to Italy and teamed up with record producer Joe T Vanelli. Under the name Co*Bra they released several dance singles, none of which charted in the UK.

Matt finally returned to the UK music scene after six years by doing a 13 date tour last summer. He had no label or contract, but fans could get the songs he performed from an online album.

The tour was popular, and Matt was signed by Concept Music. He released I'm Coming With Ya last November, his first single in the UK since 1997. It reached number 22.

Matt album Early Side of Later is a mix of new and older tracks, including one about his sister Carolyn who died when Bros were at their peak.
