SCHOOLCHILDREN in Almondbury are soon to get a new pond - thanks to a generous grant and the help of parent volunteers.
The old water feature at Almondbury C of E Infant and Nursery School drained away following building work near the grounds.
It was also targeted by vandals as it was located away from the school buildings.
The new pond now under construction is much closer to the caretaker's home.
Volunteer digger Sally Booth, whose daughter Grace attends the school, said the project was made possible with £1,400 from Kirklees Environmental Unit and the help of willing workers.
Children will be able to carry out environmental projects at the pondside.
