VOLUNTEERS handed out posters to highlight the search for three missing Huddersfield men.

The families of Alan Holt, Neil Bryson and Bernard Hallas all faced a grim Christmas without their loved ones.

This week volunteers joined the charity Missing People to raise the profile of the separate searches for the three men.

Volunteers handed out posters to shoppers at the Kingsgate Centre in Huddersfield.

Mr Holt, 40, of Dalton, was last seen at his home in September, though he was spotted at St Mary’s Church in Mirfield on October 8.

It is thought he may have been sleeping rough.

Dad-of-two Mr Bryson, 50, of Scholes, left home at 6.30am on November 27 but never returned.

His car was later found in a car park at Yateholme Reservoir near Holme.

A night-time search by Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team failed to locate him.

Bernard Hallas, 84, went missing in his pyjamas, sheepskin coat and hat.

Mr Hallas, from Bradley, who suffers ill health, travelled from Huddersfield to Marsden and back on a bus.

He was last seen in Wakefield Road, Aspley, at 11pm on December 18.

Despite extensive searches there have been few leads for any of them.

The charity Missing People encouraged volunteers to get involved with a two-day Join the Search campaign.

The charity says that 250,000 people go missing every year and volunteers are needed.

Tina Firthlock, of Missing People, said: “As the local co-ordinator in the West Yorkshire area I am looking to build groups of volunteers to join the search for missing people in their area.

“We are here for those who need our support at such a distressing time so it is important for us to get out into our local communities and support families who are desperate for news of their missing loved ones.”
