THE Queen is to go on a walkabout when she visits Huddersfield next week.

And with just days to go we can today unveil exactly where she is going and who she is scheduled to meet.

The Queen, who will be accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, is to meet crowds in the town's centrepiece, St George's Square.

Time has been set aside for her to chat to people who have flocked to the square to catch a glimpse of the royal couple on Thursday, May 24.

And before the couple leave the town they will hear for themselves why Huddersfield is so high up on the musical map.

For the Queen and duke will be given a taste of The People's Prom, performed by the world-renowned Huddersfield Choral Society and the orchestra of Opera North.

The full prom will be staged in the square at 7pm that evening as part of a bumper bank holiday weekend of celebrations linked to her visit.
