THE KIA motor company is celebrating its fourth year of sponsoring the Walking Bus campaign.

More than 240 routes have been established across the country, where school pupils walk to school in convoy instead of being chauffeured by their parents in the car.

Norristhorpe Infant and Junior School, Liversedge, is listed among the routes nationwide. Other schools have set up schemes, including Lindley Junior School.

The Walking Bus is cheaper for parents and removes cars from the roads at peak commuter times.

It is better for the environment and gives children exercise.

Paul Williams, managing director of Kia Motors said: "Kia has recognised and responded to the concerns of the thinking car owner about road congestion.

"We've done this by supporting a simple and fun alternative to the short hop in the car."
