YORKSHIRE Water is inviting families to take a walk on the wild side.

The company urged people looking for something different to do this Easter weekend to visit one of the region's many reservoirs for a stroll.

Yorkshire Water official David Simister said: "Each year we invest thousands of pounds in recreational activities to provide our customers access to the finest Yorkshire countryside.

"Now all we need is for people to get out there and take advantage of what's available - and what greater opportunity than the coming Bank Holiday weekend?

"Walking is renowned as being one of the best forms of exercise."

Spanning three National Parks, two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the South Pennines Special Protection Area, Yorkshire Water is not only one of the region's largest landowners but has the good fortune to own and manage some of the most beautiful areas in the north of England.

The water company is promoting a number of walks around its 141 reservoirs, which are open all year long and are free of charge.
