Plans for changes across the Kirklees area are to be shown in a new light.

Kirklees Council and the Examiner are teaming up to trial a new way of keeping readers informed about changes in their area.

Until now, public notices have been used as one of the first signs of change in your local neighbourhood and have been published in the newspaper.

But we are now taking part in a Government-funded pilot scheme to place these notices online – and making it easier for you to comment on the issues.

The Notice Your Street website takes public notices for planning and road closures and places them on a dedicated new website.

Once on www.noticeyourstreet.kirklees.gov.uk, readers can easily spot notices affecting their area, and contact the relevant council officer to comment.

The Examiner will advertise the new notices in easy to read display advertisements, or you can set up an email alert from the website to ensure you are kept up to date.

If an application qualifies for a public notices it will appear on www.noticeyourstreet.kirklees.gov.uk .

The move aims to make it easier for people to understand what is happening in their area and the council hopes it will lead to more public engagement.

The authority also wants to understand why some people do not comment on public notices – if the reason is because they haven’t been seen, the wording is too technical or because people feel it doesn’t affect them.
