A WANTED man arrested in Huddersfield after he was featured on a national TV crime programme has appeared in court.

Police had appealed through the ITV Manhunt programme on December 4 for helping finding 62-year-old James Dougill.

He was wanted for deception offences in Derbyshire, but had failed to turn up at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court in Derby in February 2004.

Yesterday he appeared in court for the second time since his arrest in Dalton the day after the programme. He had been working as a Kirklees car park attendant here under another name.

Dougill, of Longfield Close, was remanded in custody by magistrates yesterday to appear before them again on January 11.

His arrest followed tip-offs by people who had seen the programme.

Dougill is charged with a string of offences including dishonestly earning £68,000.
