Rush hour traffic was held up at Cooper Bridge roundabout this morning thanks to minor flooding under the railway bridge.

Cars were forced to slow down in both directions to drive through a deep puddle that stretched across both sides of Cooper Bridge Road, Cooper Bridge, on Friday morning.

The flooding caused delays on the A644 Wakefield Road that stretched right back to the M62 motorway.

On the motorway, traffic exiting at Brighouse (junction 25) queued along the slip road and back along the M62 westbound.

Cars coming from Huddersfield towards the roundabout queued along Leeds Road into Cooper Bridge Road, and there were also long delays for motorists on Leeds Road and Huddersfield Road, heading towards Huddersfield.

The short stretch of road beneath the bridge is notorious for flooding, and was underwater last December after the Boxing Day floods.
