A dangerous driver forces an oncoming vehicle into a ditch in a kamikaze country lane overtake, captured on video.

The frightening manoeuvre took place on A635 Greenfield Road, on Saddleworth Moor, approximately half a mile past the West Yorkshire border, on Monday at around 11.45am.

The video, captured by driving instructor Emma Sherdley's dashboard camera, shows a silver Volkswagen Golf overtake Ms Sherdley's car before attempting to overtake a blue van in front.

The van and another vehicle in front slam on their brakes when they spot a Vauxhall Insignia approaching in the opposite direction along the twisting road, which that morning was shrouded in fog.

Ms Sherdley, of Holmfirth, said: "Someone like that should be banned from driving for 12 to 18 months.

"He forced the guy onto the grass verge and he didn't seem to care. Had he been pushed any further he would have been in the ditch."
