Two crashes directly opposite one another on the M62 at Outlane caused misery on the motorway network for hundreds of thousands of people yesterday.

A lorry driver's state-of-the-art dashcam filmed the aftermath of the shunt on the eastbound carriageway near Outlane which involved several cars.

And as he drives past the crash scene look to the other carriageway where you'll see the emergency services dealing with another shunt on the westbound carriageway which had happened a few minutes before.

The smashes happened within 20 minutes of one another at around 4pm.

Only one person, a 52-year-old man, needed hospital treatment.

A fire service spokesman said: “It was quite a big job. People were wandering around the motorway in shock.”

The crashes caused massive tailbacks in both directions.
