WATCH as injured horse rider rescued in Calderdale

Calder Valley rescuers joined by Yorkshire Air Ambulance

An injured horse rider was helped by volunteer rescuers.

Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team volunteers were called out yesterday afternoon.

They received a request from Yorkshire Ambulance Service and Yorkshire Air Ambulance for urgent assistance with the immediate evacuation of a horse rider who had fallen from her mount whilst out riding along a bridle path near Shibden Brook, Halifax.

The woman had sustained head and ankle injuries from the fall.

A total of 23 rescue team volunteers turned out for the rescue.

They carried the injured woman on a special stretcher from the incident off Simm Carr Lane to a nearby field, where the Air Ambulance had landed.

The woman’s injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
