An area of Huddersfield was sealed off this morning after a serious police incident.

Police were called to Dingle Road in Gledholt at around 11.30pm last night after residents reported a car had crashed into bollards and the occupants fled.

An eyewitness told how she heard ‘two load bangs’ as the car hit a wooden post then a bollard.

Police are yet to reveal details of the incident which is being dealt with by West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team (HMET).

The West Yorkshire Police helicopter was heard in the area and is believed to have been assisting with the search.

Police officers remain at the scene which is cordoned off between Dingle Road and an area of land backing on to Dudley Road.

A house in Dudley Road, a hundred yards from Dingle Road, has a police guard outside.

And officers have also blocked off a rear alleyway running behind houses off Dudley Road.
