High-flying schools and teachers in Huddersfield were honoured at the first ever Examiner School Awards.

180 pupils, staff and teachers attended the ceremony at Kirklees College, hosted by BBC Look North's Harry Gration.

And in a touching moment, tributes were paid to a teacher from Spring Grove Junior, Infant and Nursery School who died very suddenly.

Samaira Akram was a newly qualified teacher with three young children who left a career in IT to go into the classrooom because she wanted to make a real difference to young lives.

She died very suddenly in February this year and was nominated for Inspirational Teacher of the Year by Spring Grove headteacher Shazia Azhar.

Watch the moment Samaira's memory was honoured — as well as the rest of the winners from last week's event — in our highlights video.

Congratulations to all of our winners!
