A NEW circular bridleway taking in spectacular views of Langsett reservoir will be officially opened tomorrow.

The 8.5km Langsett route is the first bridleway on Yorkshire Water land to start and finish at the same point.

The new 1.7km path through woods on the northern shore of the reservoir completes the way.

The £77,000 route begins in the car park at Langsett Barn and follows the path, turning south on to Hingcliff Mill, Midhope Moors and Mickleden Edge.

It follows existing bridleways with views across the reservoir before turning west and returning across the dam to the starting point.

The project is the work of Yorkshire Water, the Peak District National Park, Barnsley Council, the Forestry Commission, South Yorkshire Forest Partnership and Scurrah Associates of Boroughbridge.
