Huddersfield Lions Club has run into website problems which are jeopardising the success of their popular Santa Dash this Sunday – so people can just turn up on the day and take part.

It means people will only need to pay £5, which will include their own Santa suit for the dash around town.

Lions president and Santa Dash organiser Andrew Thornes said: “This year we decided to make use of IT and social networking by linking the pre-registration process from our website but technical problems with this are risking a serious reduction in the number of entrants.”

Runners should be at Yates’ Wine Lodge on King Street at 9.30am on Sunday for registration and the strictly for fun pre-run warm-up before the Santas set off at 10.30am. All runners will be able to take part in a free draw to win £100 worth of Armitage’s Garden Centres tokens.

Andrew added: “This is an enormous opportunity for local charities large and small to raise money .”
