HUDDERSFIELD food lovers will be taking part in a nationwide tasting event next week.

Purple Love Week is Britain’s biggest food-tasting event and will see delis, farm shops, butchers, bakers, shops and restaurants offering tasting sessions to the public.

The third Purple Love Week starts on Saturday and ends on February 16.

Huddersfield venues taking part include Lindley’s cafe on Lidget Street in Lindley.

Owner Tracy Capener said: “Our aim is to encourage people to come out and enjoy seven days of loving great food with us.

“We’ll have lots of free tastings and food offers. We hope that lots of our friends and new people will come and find out more.”

Purple Love Week is organised by Dorset firm Olives Et Al, a food company dealing in olives and speciality deli foods.

Giles Henschel, founder of Olives Et Al, said: “Purple Love Week started as a fun way of brightening up February.

“But this year we’ve got involved with many more producers who want to support the event.

“We really hope that more people than ever will join in this year.”
