Police found a deadly hunting knife dumped in Huddersfield.

And now they have urged people with knives to dispose of: “Hand them in to us.”

The knife, with an eight-inch serrated blade, was found in a small wooded area in Paddock.

Bizarrely, it was wrapped in tinfoil and was found next to a scabbard.

A police spokesman said: “Rather than just discarding knives and risking them getting into the wrong hands, you can hand them in at a police station.

“Or you can contact us via 101, on-line at www.westyorkshire.police.uk or via email at rural@westyorkshire.pnn.police.uk and we will dispose of them safely.”
