Two police officers were injured in a crash in Huddersfield.

Both were hurt in the early hours of Wednesday and taken to hospital.

The accident, between a police Vauxhall Astra and Nissan Micra, happened at the junction of Blacker Road and Edgerton Road at around 2.15am.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed that the two officers were taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary at Lindley with minor injuries but released later.

A male passenger in the Micra was assessed by Yorkshire Ambulance Service paramedics at the scene but did not need treatment.

The junction was the site of an accident in November when an Vauxhall Corsa and an Audi taxi crashed.

That impact sent the Corsa through a wall into woods and both occupants had to be freed from the wreckage by firefighters.

Matt Botha, who lives on Edgerton Road, said: “It’s a blind junction and it’s dangerous even though there are traffic lights there.”

The crash was followed just two hours later by another serious accident in Huddersfield.

A car ploughed into a lamp post on the central reservation in Woodhead Road, between Berry Brow and Honley.

The accident, involving a Vauxhall Corsa, happened at around 4am on Wednesday.
