A MAN punched during an altercation in a nightclub has died.

Police say the 38-year-old fell to the floor of a club in Halifax and despite receiving treatment from paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

It happened at 2.20am today at the  Liquid nightclub in Commercial Street.

Police believe the man who threw the punch will probably not know what happened to the victim, and are asking for him to come forward or witnesses to help trace him.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Wallen, said: "We believe this man left the venue almost immediately afterwards, so he will probably not know the outcome of his actions.

"That is why I am appealing for him and any other witnesses to this incident to come forward and help the police with their enquiries."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at Halifax on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
