HIGHBURTON youngster Katie Hanson used her artistic talents to Royal effect.
She painted a picture to congratulate Prince Charles on his engagement to Camilla Parker Bowles.
Then, to her surprise, she received a letter from the Queen thanking her for the gesture!
Katie, six, of Cotswold Mews, drew her special picture and wrote the message Happy Wedding Day on it.
She then begged her mother Sally to post it to Buckingham Palace.
Mrs Hanson said: "I'd told her all about Charles and Camilla and she went on about it so much that we eventually did post it.
"We were really shocked five days later when we got a reply from the Queen, written by her lady in waiting. We didn't think we'd get anything back. Katie was really excited.
The reply read: "The Queen wishes me to write and thank you for the picture which you drew for the Prince of Wales's wedding on April 8.
"Her Majesty thought it was kind of you to send this to her and thanks you very much."
Katie, who has a younger brother Ben, three, has now framed her royal reply and after showing to her class at Highburton CE First School, she will hang it in pride of place on her bedroom wall.
