2) Hospital airlift after woman suffers broken leg in motorbike accident on Leeds Road

A woman was in hospital last night after a crash drama on one of Huddersfield’s busiest roads.

The female pillion passenger suffered a broken leg after the motorbike on which she was riding collided with a private hire taxi on Leeds Road at midday yesterday.

3) Sun shines on thousands of visitors at the Sikh Mela in Huddersfield

Families came together at the third Northern Sikh Mela in Huddersfield yesterday.

And the event brought members of the Sikh community from as far away as Birmingham to the community day  in Deighton .

Jag Bhullar, one of the organising committee, said it was a day for community spirit, for families to spend time together and for the wider community to find out more about Sikh traditions.

4) Huddersfield Town chairman Dean Hoyle quashes speculation over star striker James Vaughan as Premiership scouts line up

Huddersfield Town chairman Dean Hoyle says he’s comfortable with claims that  seven-goal striker James Vaughan  could quickly become a target of top-flight clubs.

Town’s in-form frontline star has only just dropped out of the Premier League,  leaving Norwich in a £600,000 deal  after a successful loan stint at the John Smith’s Stadium.

But as Mark Robins’ side prepare to host Championship rivals Charlton in the second round of the Capital One Cup tonight (7.45), pundits are queueing up to speculate on his future.

5) The area's most expensive and cheapest houses sold last year revealed – and they’re just six minutes drive from each other

A survey has revealed the most expensive and the cheapest places to buy properties last year in the Huddersfield area – and they were just six minutes drive from each other.

Four Kirklees homes sold for more than £1m since last July, Land Registry details show.

The most expensive street last year was the newly-built Delamere Gardens in Fixby, with one home selling for £1.1m.
