PIE champions Hinchliffe’s are revelling in the spotlight.

The Netherton farm shop named best pork pie producer in the UK has been featured on the BBC’s The One Show.

And their prize-winning pies are also to be enjoyed by staff and guests at a Huddersfield firm’s anniversary celebrations.

Cummins Turbo Technologies, of St Andrew’s Road, have ordered a staggering 5,000 of the pies for an event to mark their 60th year.

Hinchliffe’s scooped the title on Saturday at the Old Bridge Inn at Ripponden, which hosted the 20th UK Pork Pie championship.

They beat another Huddersfield firm, Bolster Moor Farm Shop, into second place.

Butcher Craig Midwood, the man behind the pies, was filmed by the BBC in his kitchen and then took on the show reporter Anita Rani in the cook-off.

Craig said: “A good pie starts with the very best, fresh ingredients to gain that winning edge.

“There’s also an element of practice makes perfect when it comes to the perfect pie and it’s amazing to have won the judges’ approval for a second year”.
