It's known for its beautiful scenery and for being the home of Last of the Summer Win e - and now Holmfirth will also become part of Tour de France history.

The 2014 race will pass through the village on Sunday July 6 - after speeding through Huddersfield town centre, Honley and Thongsbridge - between 1pm and 2.40pm.

The first taste of the action for Holmfirth spectators will be the Tour de France caravan, a procession of floats and vehicles that hand out souvenirs and other freebies to the crowds.

The caravan is due to reach Holmfirth at around 1pm.

Then from approximately 2.40pm, the first of the racers should reach the Holmfirth section of the route.

The cyclists are expected to pass through the village between 2.40pm and 3.05pm.

And cyclists won't be the only thing racing in Holmfirth during the Tour de France on July 6.

The annual Holmfirth Duck Race will see thousands of yellow ducks tipped into the River Holme.

And Tour de France fans at the Holmfirth spectator hub at Sands Recreation Ground will get a great view of the ducks racing down the river.

The event, organised by the Huddersfield Pendragon Round Table , has a top prize of £3,000 - upped from the usual £1,000 for the Tour de France year - and raises funds for charity.
