A village pub with a long history has a secure future.

Property investor, Miles Rodgers, has bought the White Hart at New Mill, near Holmfirth.

The sale of the pub was carried out through the Leeds office of leisure property specialists, Fleurets.

The White Hart was sold for an undisclosed price after it was placed on the market with an asking price of £250,000.

Fleurets acted for Punch Taverns who sold the pub as part of their rationalisation strategy.

The pub has a history dating back more than 200 years and stands right at the heart of the village.

It was one of two pubs in the centre, but the Duke of Leeds closed and has reopened as a restaurant.

Nick Thomas of Fleurets said: “The White Hart attracted a healthy level of interest with offers received from a number of parties after it was placed on the market in June this year and we are pleased to confirm that the sale completed recently’.

“It is reassuring to see that the White Hart will continue as a public house with the new tenant, Warren Williams, planning to introduce a food offer and live music at weekends after carrying out a refurbishment at the pub.”

The other pubs Mr Rodgers owns are: The Bridge and the Old Crown in Penistone, The Horse & Jockey at Thurgoland, the Ti’aimo in Penistone and the Middlewood Tavern at Sheffield.
