PEOPLE considering drawing up a will are urged to consider using the Will Aid scheme.

Colne Valley Labour MP Kali Mountford is backing the campaign which raises money for national and international charities, such as Christian Aid, the British Red Cross, Sight Savers and Help the Aged.

Solicitors volunteer free of charge to draw-up a basic will during the month of November.

In return, the solicitors request a donation to the charity, such as £65 for a single will, or £95 for a pair.

Ms Mountford has been approached by constituents who have suffered because wills were either not made or not altered.

She said: "It is important to recognise that solicitors participate in the scheme are doing so free of charge in order to raise money for charity, but also to encourage the public to make a proper will.

"We see first hand the distress families can endure when somebody dies without a will."
