Prizes have been presented to winners of the new Huddersfield in Bloom competition.

The gold, silver gilt, silver and bronze awards were presented at a ceremony at Greenhead Park.

Gold awards went to The Wappy Springs at Lindley Moor, The Jacobs Well at Honley, The Queens Tavern in the Imperial Arcade, The Head of Steam in St George’s Square, Wilkinson Woodward, at Queen St, McNulty’s Funeral Directors of New North Parade and the Kingsgate shopping centre.

The trophy for the overall winner of Huddersfield in Bloom 2013 was given by the Huddersfield Civic Society and was presented to the Wappy Springs by society chairman Chris Marsden.

The event was sponsored by Armitage’s Garden Centre, The Central Lodge Hotel at Beast Market and Villa Farm Shop at Bradley.

Sue Kershaw, of Villa Farm Shop, said: “Organisers were delighted with the standard of entries from pubs, restaurants, retailers and professional businesses.

“Everyone is keen for this to become an annual event.”
