Marsden Meet and Eat Lunch Club

We are a lunch club for elderly Marsden residents. We meet every Wednesday and serve a two course meal. We also have tea, coffee and biscuits and provide different entertainment each week. We recently appeared on the Hairy Bikers Meals on Wheels programme.

Meals on Wheels Golcar

We provide a hot fresh cooked two-course meal to 32 elderly residents in the Golcar area every Wednesday lunchtime. As well as delivering the meals, we also provide friendship and valuable social contact to those we deliver to. We charge £3.50 for each meal, this covers the cost of ingredients only. We do not make any profit and all involved are unpaid volunteers.

We are a local junior rugby league club and we welcome players of all ages. We currently run three teams at 8, 9 and 11.

Meltham Memories

We are a small community group who organise a war-time weekend in Meltham every year for the past five years. Our first year we attracted approx 1,500 visitors and the event has grown. So much so, that last year’s event attracted more than 8,000 visitors. We’ve raised over £4,000 for Help for Heroes and Yorkshire Regiment Benevolent Fund.

Milnsbridge Community Trust

We are a hard working, little group trying to get the hall back as the hub of the community. We are aiming to give the hall a facelift and organise events to bring the community together. Mirfield Over 50s Club

Mirfield Over 50s Club provides outreach for senior citizens in the Mirfield district every Friday afternoon, 52 weeks a year. We provide film shows, musical entertainment, tea parties and outings. Afternoon tea and biscuits are provided at each meeting at which 65 to 70 members attend.

Mon-realm

Mon-Realm are a local TRA. We do a lot of fundraising so we can host activities with children, run a parent and toddler group, hold Halloween and Christmas parties, take coach trips to the seaside and much, much more.

Newsome Panthers Junior Amateur Rugby League Football Club

Newsome Panthers aim is to involve local children in the game of Rugby League. It has nearly 200 junior players and 50 volunteers. The children and young people come from a variety of backgrounds and we pride ourselves in being inclusive to all, keeping subs as low as possible.

We are a hardworking club that’s barely breaking even to provide sports training and match facilities for the whole community. We work in tandem with Scissett Middle School to develop teams and sportsmanship. All matches incur fees for umpires and scorers. Grounds require high priced maintenance and good clubhouse facilities are expected.

Pennine Singers

Pennine Singers are a ladies choir who perform concerts predominantly to help raise funds for local and national charities. We meet every Monday from1pm to 2.30pm in Holmfirth Methodist Church Hall. We have tea and biscuits, a tombola, bring and buy sales, bingo, quizzes, speakers, three trips a year and Christmas dinner at the Old Bridge Hotel Holmfirth. We have 45 very friendly members who have fun.

Ruddi's Retreat
