A woman was airlifted to hospital after she was trapped in a car crash.

According to West Yorkshire Police , the 35-year-old victim sustained non-life threatening head injuries when two vehicles collided on the Morley-bound side of Leeds Road near to the Babes in the Wood pub in Dewsbury at 9.40am this morning.

They are now looking for two men who left the scene after the accident which happened when the VW Golf they were driving smashed into the woman’s SsongYong car as she was reversing into her drive.

Fire crews from Dewsbury and Morley attended the scene to free the woman who was flow to Leeds General Infirmary. Both sides of the road were closed off until police had completed a clean up operation at 1.10pm.

Arriva bus services were also disrupted.

Dewsbury fire station watch commander Andy Flynn said: “We believed that she had suffered head and spinal injuries so had to take off the roof of the car to free her.

“The ambulance service took her to hospital for a check up as her injuries were not as serious as first thought.”
