POLICE are investigating a serious sex attack on a woman at Linthwaite.
The victim is thought to have been attacked late last night on land off Slant Gate.
This morning the scene was sealed off as detectives and scenes of crimes officers continued their investigations.
Slant Gate runs up the valley from Manchester Road to Cowlersley Lane at Broad Oak.
Detectives were expected to reveal more details about the attack later today.
But this morning a team of forensic experts concentrated on a small area of woodland and a rough-surfaced track leading off the road, close to the top of the hill.
Police officers had closed off the road at both ends.
