A WOMAN has appeared in court charged with a car smash that left a man seriously injured.
Rebecca Barber, of Royds Avenue in Linthwaite, was before Kirklees Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Barber already faced charges of dangerous driving, failing to stop after an accident, and drink-driving.
The charges relate to an incident in the Golcar area on April 4.
Magistrates previously decided that the case would be dealt with by a crown court.
Yesterday prosecutor Paul Ramsay laid a new charge.
The charge is that Barber unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grievous bodily harm upon John Gibson.
Mr Ramsay said that Mr Gibson was hit by Barber’s car during the alleged incident.
He said that the vehicle was used as a weapon and Mr Gibson suffered a number of injuries.
District Judge Pascoe committed Barber, 23, to stand trial at Leeds Crown Court.
She will first appear at the court on January 11.
Unconditional bail was granted.
