PEOPLE watched as police and firefighters tackled a woman dancing around on a roof.

The 30-year-old was spotted on top of the Spicy Kitchen takeaway on Westbourne Road in Marsh at 8.50pm last night.

At first she was sitting on a ledge and then danced around, but when firefighters went to help her she became aggressive.

In the end police and firefighters had to pin her to the roof while a specialist aerial appliance was sent from Huddersfield.

Crew Manager Mark Hurd said: “The only way to bring her down safely was to go up in the aerial appliance’s cage. She had to be restrained and was then handcuffed to get her into the cage.’’

Firefighters sat on her while she was brought down to safety where she was arrested by police under the Mental Health Act.

She remained in police custody this morning.

The drama was watched by hundreds of people passing by or visiting nearby takeaways.
