A woman has died after falling from an M62 motorway bridge.
Greater Manchester Police said the woman fell to her death from Rakewood Viaduct at Junction 21 of the M62 this morning.
A police spokeswoman said: "Shortly after 10.20am on Friday police were called to Junction 21 of the M62 to a report a woman had fallen from the motorway bridge.
"Officers attended and found the body of a woman.
"There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances and a file is being prepared for the coroner."
Lanes one and two (of four) were closed affecting traffic heading away from Manchester towards Huddersfield leading to delays.
Further congestion was caused by a lorry that had broken down within the queues between junction 20 (Rochdale) and junction 21 (Milnrow) as the driver had to stop to change a tyre.
