A WOMAN fled to safety while a man confronted a gang raiding their home.

The couple were asleep when they heard noises in the house on Moorbottom Road, Thornton Lodge, at 3am yesterday.

The man woke the woman as they started to hear the men coming up the stairs.

She scrambled to safety out of a window on to a flat kitchen roof.

The man confronted the three men, who were creeping up the stairs towards him.

One had a hammer and another is thought to have had a gun.

The man yelled at them and they turned around and fled from the house.

One is Asian, aged 30 to 35, 6ft tall and well-built.

His two accomplices are African-Caribbeans.

One is also aged 30 to 35, 5ft 6in tall, thin and bald.

The other was dressed in dark clothes.
