Two masked men threatened a mother and her son with a handgun during a terrifying robbery in Mirfield this morning.

The pair were walking along Greenside Estate at 5.30am on their way to work when they were approached by two men wearing balaclavas.

One of the men produced a handgun and the other pushed the woman and man to the ground.

Once on the ground one of the suspects shouted: ‘f****** give me the money’.

The woman, who had been wearing a rucksack, was forced to hand it over.

The two men then fled on foot and police believe they ran down a snicket and came out on Old Bank Road running past the Thirsty Man pub.

The victims, a woman in her 50s and her son in his 20s, were shaken but were not injured during the ordeal. The stolen rucksack contained two mobile phones.

Both suspects were men, approximately 6ft tall, dressed all in black, wearing black balaclavas.
