A WOMAN of 79 was hurt in a road accident in the centre of Dewsbury.

The pedestrian from Ravensthorpe and a 19-year-old woman from Thornhill were hurt when they were in collision with a motorbike ridden by a 42-year-old Dewsbury man.

All three were taken to Dewsbury District Hospital after the accident on Long Causeway, close to Dewsbury Town Hall just after 11am on Monday.

The young woman and the motorcyclist were later allowed home.

The 79-year-old woman is said to be in a comfortable condition in the hospital.

Police have appealed for witnesses, particularly two Asian men in a light blue Ford Ka car which drove off towards the Wilkinson store on Long Causeway after the accident.
