A woman has been taken to hospital after a two vehicle crash near a notorious junction in Shepley.

The smash involved a Ford Transit van and a Fiat 500 near to the Sovereign crossroads at around 8.30am today.

Police, fire and ambulance were called to the scene and Lane Head Road was closed in both directions.

Paramedics assisted the woman casualty from the Fiat. She is believed to have suffered a number of injuries but her condition is not known.

She was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The van driver was uninjured.

Fire crews from Skelmanthorpe and Huddersfield attended the scene but were found to be not needed upon arrival.

The road has since re-opened.
