A woman has died following a road incident in Dewsbury.
The woman has been named as Hamida Bai Dana by Kirklees Batley councillor Fazila Fadia on Facebook.
Emergency Services were called to the scene at 10.10am after a white BMW 420 coupe car hit a woman.
It happened under the railway bridge near Lidl and the junction with Dewsbury Ring Road.
A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is in police custody for questioning.
The road reopened at 2.10pm.
Sgt Carl Quinn of the Major Collision and Enquiry Team, said: “Anyone who saw the collision or the manner in which the BMW was being driven prior to the collision is asked to contact the Major Collision and Enquiry Team on 101.

Victim named on social media
Kirklees councillor for Batley, Fazila Fadia, has named the victim of today’s tragic incident on social media.
She said: “My deepest condolences to Musa Dana & his family for the loss of his wife Hamida Bai Dana - Taylor Street, Batley who has sadly passed away today in a tragic car accident.”
Update from police
Police have released further details about this morning’s tragic incident.
A spokesman said the woman was a pedestrian, adding: “The car struck her and collided with a stationery van parked at the roadside.”
The road reopened at 2.10pm.
Further details of the woman who died have not been released by the authorities.

Bradford Road is still closed following the incident from earlier today.
Fire service report
Dewsbury Watch Commander Anthony Woodhead said: “Ambulance crews were there before we got there.
“We made the scene safe and ambulance crews tried to deal with the casualty.”
