A woman mugger is being hunted after striking in Dewsbury.

Police are appealing for information following a robbery on Saturday night.

It happened between 8.30pm and 8.45pm on South Street as a man was walking along the road. He was approached by a woman, who grabbed at him before taking his wallet and running to a nearby vehicle which then made off along the street and turned right.

The thief was described as eastern European, early 40s, 5ft 6 tall of a stocky build. She was wearing a dark head scarf, a dark thick knitted cardigan with a dark top underneath and a dark ankle length skirt with dark flat shoes.

The male driver, of the car is described as eastern European, late 30s, average build and clean shaven. He was wearing a light coloured woolly hat, a dark bomber jacket with a light coloured t-shirt underneath. The vehicle he was driving is believed to be a Vauxhall Vectra.

Detectives are also investigating a second street mugging in Dewsbury.

It happened yesterday morning at 2.30am on Bywell Road in Dewsbury. The victim - a takeaway delivery driver - was approached from behind by the suspect who demanded money. He handed over a sat nav and a sum of cash and the suspect left on foot.

The robber was described as 5 ft 10 tall, wearing dark clothing with a scarf over his face and his hood up.
