A woman ran screaming from her bedroom after she realised from his bald head that it was another man and not her partner who was touching her sexually, a court heard.

Matthew Bean, prosecuting, said the victim had fallen asleep with her children while watching a video at her home in Chickenley, Dewsbury, and assumed when she later felt her trousers being pulled down that it was her boyfriend.

She was on her side and had her eyes closed when she felt him touching her and kissing her bottom then felt her neck and jawline being kissed.

Mr Bean told Leeds Crown Court it was only when she put her hand up to his head that she realised the molester was bald while her partner had a full head of hair.

She ran downstairs where her partner had gone to sleep on the sofa rather than disturb her and they discovered the other man was Glen Archer who was known to them and would call in for a drink on occasions.

He denied doing anything wrong and claimed he had just been upstairs to the toilet but he was “unsteady on his feet and clearly in drink.”

He left and the police were called. Since then his victim had trouble sleeping and felt so unsafe in her own home she felt she had to move.

Archer, 37, of Junction Lane, Ossett, admitted a sexual assault and another sexual offence. He was jailed for two years four months and ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years.

Judge Rodney Jameson QC said: “You fell prey to the temptation to do what you did.”

The effect on the complainant had been substantial, made worse by the fact Archer had not admitted for months what he had done.
