A woman was airlifted to hospital after a moorland fall.

The woman, who has not been named, was rescued by volunteers from the Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team on Friday afternoon.

Members of the unit got a lunchtime callout to assist the Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

The woman was walking her dog on the moor at Greystone Edge above Ripponden and slipped on uneven ground.

She suffered a dislocated ankle.

Paramedics from Yorkshire Ambulance Service and and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance attended and due to the remote location, called on the mountain rescue volunteers.

Unit spokesman Tim Ingram said: “Arriving within a few minutes of the callout, our 16 members headed out onto the hill to assist the paramedics on scene.

“Once the patient’s pain was under control her ankle was treated by the paramedics and CVSRT members then took over care.

“The patient was assisted onto our stretcher and then carried approximately half a mile from the hill to the waiting ambulance for onward transport to hospital.”
