A woman was taken to hospital after a crash on Huddersfield’s busy ring road.

She is thought to have collapsed at the wheel of the BMW in Kirkgate on Tuesday afternoon.

The car veered across part of Southgate and ploughed into railings and a pole on the central reservation.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene but luckily no other vehicles or people were involved.

The woman is thought to have suffered only shock and minor injuries.
