A WOMAN was due to stand trial today, charged with the murder of her grandmother.
Joanne Hussey, 33, was due in the dock at Leeds Crown Court accused of murdering 76-year-old Annie Garbutt.
Mrs Garbutt’s body was found at her home in The Clough, Mirfield, in May.
Mrs Garbutt was a widow and is understood to have lived alone in the cul-de-sac in the Battyeford area of the town.
Hussey, of Grange Mount, Yeadon, near Leeds, formally entered her not guilty plea to the murder allegation during a brief hearing before Judge Scott Wolstenholme at Bradford Crown Court last month.
The trial is expected to last about five days.
