A 71-YEAR-OLD woman suffered a terrifying ordeal when two masked men burst into her flat.

The thieves kicked open the front door open to her flat on Longfield Close in Dalton at 12.30am on Thursday.

One had a hammer and ordered the woman to go into a bedroom and stay there.

They then searched the flat and stole a flatscreen TV and six Christmas presents that the victim had already wrapped.

Det Con Neil Johnson, of Kirklees CID, said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim and the thieves were clearly callous and cruel by stealing her TV and Christmas presents.

"These people need to be caught and we are treating this is an aggravated burglary, which is a very serious crime.

"We would urge anyone who may have any ideas who is responsible for this to let us know immediately."

Police have revealed full details of the TV in the hope the thieves have tried to tout it for sale.

It is a Samsung LEZ 6R7 worth £750.

Both thieves are around 5ft 5ins tall and wore dark balaclavas and dark clothes.
