TWO Huddersfield women who died last year have each left about £1.4m in their wills.

And both have made charity bequests.

Mary Harper, 88, died on October 20 last year at Alwoodleigh Nursing Home in Edgerton.

She had previously lived at Thornhill Avenue in Lindley.

Nancy Buckley, 89, of The Gables in Kirkburton, died on April 21 last year. She died at her home and was described by her family as "a lady with indomitable spirit".

Mrs Harper left an estate of £1,436,889 and bequeathed shares in the fortune to children's charity Barnardo's, the Royal National Lifeboat Institute, the Imperial Cancer Research Fund, conservation body the National Trust and Huddersfield's Kirkwood Hospice.

Mrs Buckley left an estate worth £1,395,348. She left £1,000 each to the Royal National Lifeboat Institute, Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, the Royal National Institute for the Blind and animal charities the RSPCA and PDSA.

The rest of the estate went to Mrs Buckley's family - she had a daughter, Catherine Gledhill, who is married and lives at Kirkburton.

Mrs Buckley also had a grandson, Edward.
