MEMBERS of Woodhead Mountain Rescue team helped a stricken cyclist.

He was hurt when his front wheel hit a rock and he was thrown over the handlebars of his bike. He was wearing a helmet but suffered head injuries.

The accident happened in Wharncliffe Woods, north of Sheffield. The cyclist had ridden along a bridleway from Deepcar.

The Woodhead team helped the man on to a stretcher and carried him to their Landrover, which had been able to negotiate the woodland path.
