CONSUMERS who switch to eco-friendly online billing can help the country's woodland.

BT has teamed up with the Woodland Trust with the aim of filling 120 Premiership football pitches-worth of British countryside with forest, in just 18 months.

To achieve this goal, 90,000 BT customers must switch to online billing by the end of 2006.

For every customer that makes the switch, BT will donate a native woodland sapling to a Woodland Trust wood.

BT began its Woodland Challenge last June and since then over 45,000 BT customers have transferred to online billing.

To encourage customers on in the second half of the campaign, BT has announced that it will enter all customers who make the switch under the Woodland Challenge before the end of April, into a weekly prize draw to win £1,000.

BT said its business customers are also increasingly opting for online billing, with around 250 new signs ups each week.
