They’re raising a glass to support the Poppy Appeal.

The owners of the Woodman Inn at Thunderbridge have teamed up with Shelley-based Small World Beers Ltd to raise funds for the annual appeal.

Brewery owners Dave Hill and Pete Forder decided to donate 10p for every pint of their popular Barncliffe Mill Bitter and Long Moor Pale sold to pubs between now and November 10 – the eve of Armistice Day – to the Royal British Legion.

And the owners of the Woodman Inn at Thunderbridge have decided to match their pledge and donate 10 for every pint they sell over the bar from now until closing time on the 10th.

Special poppy-decorated pump clips have been designed for the fundraising move – while members of Huddersfield Veterans Association were on hand to help launch the initiative.

David Woodhead, a director of Leslie Country Inns, which owns the Woodman, is a long-standing volunteer Poppy Appeal collector – most often to be seen selling poppies in Huddersfield town centre at Sainsbury’s Market Street and Shorehead stores and at the Kingsgate shopping centre

He said: “Both beers are very popular with regulars at the pub. The Poppy Appeal raises many thousands of pounds in Huddersfield every year. It’s nice to think that a ‘few’ pints of beer will help add to this year’s total.”
