A GOLF day and dinner resulted in a generous outcome for a national charity.

Stroke victim John Murch organised a golf competition at his home club of Woodsome Hall, followed by a dinner and charity auction for players and guests.

The event raised an impressive £7,796 for the Stroke Association and John presented the cheque to Mahalia France-Mir from the Stroke Association.

A total of 18 teams of four played in the event which was won by the team from R F Landscapes from Highburton.

Second was Refresh Water from Skelmanthorpe and third was a team entered by John, comprising Woodsome Hall captain James Haigh, two past captains and club professional John Eyre.

Mr Murch said: “I have been overwhelmed by everyone’s support and generosity.

“We had a fantastic afternoon and dinner and raised a generous total for the Stroke Association. It was marvellous.

“I’d like to thank everybody who was involved for their generosity”.
