A £30 MILLION project to build affordable homes has begun in Calderdale.

More than a dozen sites are planned including at Elland and Hipperholme, Todmorden, Mytholmroyd and Illingworth with a total build of about 300 homes.

The biggest project is at Elland where Pennine Housing 2000 has begun work on 65 homes at the former Gannex Mill site.

Clr Barry Collins said: “The housing is much needed, but the work is also providing employment for more than 340 construction workers, with all sorts of other local jobs supported through supply chains.”
